Judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit are scheduled to hear arguments today over whether taxis and rideshare services in Chicago should have to follow the same rules. The case started in early 2014, when several taxi owners sued the City of Chicago, arguing that the city effectively took away their exclusive right to operate vehicles for hire when it allowed in companies like Uber and Lyft. Since then, the city has modified its rules for both industries but they remain far from identical.
