In 2006 Jenny Holzer exhibited a series of silk-screened paintings based on highly sensitive US government documents. These compelling yet little-known works feature prominently in the exhibition Jenny Holzer: PROTECT PROTECT, on view at the MCA untilFebruary 1, 2009, which also presents the artist’s newest works in sculpture, LED installation, and large-scale projection. On the occasion of this exhibition, distinguished curator, critic and artist Robert Storr will examine how these paintings communicate meaning and the degree to which they represent continuities and shifts in Holzer’s artistic practice.

Robert Storr is Dean of the Yale University School of Art and Consulting Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. From 1990 to 2002, he held the position of Senior Curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art. In 2007 Storr became the first American to serve as Commissioner of the Venice Biennale.
