Embattled former Illinois U.S. Sen. Roland Burris say’s he’s starting a politics class named after himself.

Burris was appointed in 2009 by disgraced then-governor Rod Blagojevich to fill President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat.

Burris talked about his teaching plans with Steve Edwards Friday for WBEZ’s Afternoon Shift.

“I’ve started a class called Burris School of Politics,” Burris said. “Tuition is 300 bucks for 9 hour — three three hour sessions, which would be nine hours. And you learn not political science, steve, you learn politics.”

Burris said his class focuses on government structure, political candidacy and how to deal with the media. He said he’s opened up a law practice and started writing a book since leaving the senate in 2010.
