Roundtable: How Chicago Theater Can Save America
Roundtable: How Chicago Theater Can Save America
A rare gathering of Chicago’s theater stakeholders respond to the series of talks Mike Daisey has convened across the U.S. after select performances of his monologue How Theater Failed America. Working actors and veteran stage managers, directors and playwrights, come in direct conversation with do-it-yourself producers, print media, and bloggers about Chicago’s successful export of ensemble work and new voices, and the challenges ahead. Participants include artistic directors Martha Lavey (Steppenwolf), Derrick Sanders (Congo Square Theatre), Michael Halberstam (Writers’ Theatre), Nathaniel Swift (Eclipse Theatre), Jenny Magnus (Curious Theatre Branch), Bonnie Metzgar (About Face Theatre); playwrights Anne Mcgravie, Idris Goodwin, and Tanya Saracho; and others.
Recorded Tuesday, October 07, 2008 at Museum of Contemporary Art.
