(Feed the Dream)
Ten years ago Sandy Haggart traveled to Guatemala as a volunteer translator. As she fell in love with the people of the country, and as her personal connections grew (her daughter adopted a child from Guatemala) she became determined to make a positive change in the lives of the Guatemalans.

In 2004, Haggart founded Feed the Dream, an organization dedicated to providing nutrition and education to the women and children of the Guatemalan highlands. Targeting women of child-bearing age and children under five, Feed the Dream educated Guatemalans on nutrition, gardening and sustainability.

The organization currently serves 18 villages and reaches out to 1500 people a day. As Feed the Dream has impacted the health and lives of Guatemalans, Haggart has noticed the benefits on her own life. She recalls one woman, who after having gone through the program, telling her “you have awakened our minds.” Another woman, cradling her baby, told her how much the organization helped her life. The name of the child was “Sandy.”
