Eight Forty-Eight

Searching for local signs of stability in a volatile marketplace

Relief for the U.S. economy appeared as a scarce commodity in recent weeks: U.S. debt was downgraded, the latest jobless report was not good and the stock markets were volatile during the last couple of weeks.

Locally, however, the air of gloom cleared briefly after news of Google’s planned $12.5 billion purchase of Chicago-based Motorola Mobility. To analyze the events of late and look toward what might lay ahead, Eight Forty-Eight was joined by the Chicago News Cooperative’s David Greising who regularly reports on business news for the show.
