Nearly seven months after suffering a stroke, U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk is back on his feet and meeting with fellow Illinois Republicans. U.S. Representatives Bob Dold and Judy Biggert met with Kirk a few days ago and they said he’s exercising and working hard to recover.

Biggert said she and Kirk discussed political issues, people and even a little gossip.

“He can walk, he’s on the treadmill every day, he calls it the ‘dreadmill’,” Biggert said. “It’s just the same ole’ Mark Kirk, so he’s really eager to get back.”

Biggert said specifics on her conversation with Kirk are private, but did confirm that he’s keeping up on current legislation.

In a statement, the senator’s office said that he’ll continue to give updates on his rehabilitation and his work in the Senate.
