Illinois U.S. Senator Mark Kirk said he wishes he could be at the Republican National Convention in Florida, but instead, he sent a video greeting to the Illinois delegation as he continues to recover from his stroke at home.

Kirk’s video aired on a big screen in the hotel banquet room where the Illinois delegation eats breakfast each morning. The video showed Kirk in a light blue oxford shirt, sitting in front of a bookcase, looking right at the camera.

“I really wish I could be with you today. This is an exciting moment in which you’re going, as an Illinois Republican, participate in history,” Kirk Said.

The video lasts only about a minute and Kirk’s speech is mostly clear, with a few stumbles. But his message fit right in.

“We need Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan and their brand of fiscal conservatism.”

This is the third video Kirk’s office has released of the senator. This one didn’t contain any updates on his medical condition, though – just politics.
