The Gujarat violence was a series of communal riots that took place in the Indian State of Gujarat in February-May 2002, involving violence between Hindus and Muslims. Official estimates of the death toll tabled in the Indian parliament reported 790 Muslims and 254 Hindus killed, as well as 223 people missing and 2,548 injured. Presented with Professor Steven Wilkinson and Mona Mehta of the University of Chicago.
