Simon: I Won't Always Agree with Quinn

The Democrat running to be Illinois' lieutenant governor says voters shouldn't expect her always to agree with her running mate.

Shelia Simon says she supports an amendment to the Illinois Constitution that would change the way legislative districts are re-drawn.

Governor Pat Quinn hasn't committed to that plan.

But Simon says she's optimistic she'll work well with the governor.

SIMON: You can't 100 percent agree with someone on all issues. I think redistricting is important, and I'm looking forward to some form of redistricting going through.

Simon would not say whether she'd push governor Quinn to support the amendment. She was previously appointed by Quinn to sit on a state commission that recommended reforming Illinois redistricting.

That task currently falls to state lawmakers. But critics charge the process is too politicized.
