Sound/video bite of the day: The Final Countdown (muzak for the rapture)

Two weeks ago today, one of our reporters was so enamored with the music playing before a Governor Pat Quinn press conference that he put his mic to the speaker and recorded it. He gave it to me and we both scratched our heads on how to use it. Then it dawned on me: This is a perfect song (and recording) to listen to if the world is indeed going to end tomorrow.

It's Europe's 'The Final Countdown" done on lazy, muzak piano. You're welcome, sinners.

And here's another little nugget for you to start the weekend. WBEZ Sports Reporter Cheryl Raye Stout captured this video on her phone as the Miami Heat walked to the locker room after winning Game 2 at the United Center. Look at the joy. Soak in those Heat employees' cheers. Internalize the players' sense of accomplishment. Now put it on a loop. Let's not have this again, shall we? It's on you, fans.
