Curated by local writer Bill Allegrezza, Series A is dedicated to showcasing American experimental writing with a focus on authors from the Midwest region. The series provides a space for the art of language in any of its incarnations. For this special, we’re excited to share readings from seven series authors whose works span a wide array of poetry and fiction: Simone Muench, author of Lampblack & Ash (Sarabande, 2005) and winner of the Kathryn A. Morton Prize; Cris Mazza, author of Waterbaby: A Novel (Soft Skull Press 2007); Gabriel Gudding author of Rhode Island Notebook (Dalkey Archive Press, 2007), a 436 page poem he wrote in his car; Joshua Corey, poetry blogger and author of Compos(t)ition Marble (Pavement Saw Press, 2006); Garin Cycholl, writing and literature teacher at the University of Chicago and author of Blue Mound to 161 (Pavement Saw Press, 2005); Juan Manuel Sanchez, Lecturer of Spanish at the University of Chicago; and Lauren Levato, visual artist and author of at the hotel andromeda (Dancing Girl Press, 2007).
