Stimulus for Governor

Our City Room has been actively trying to find out if the new Governor Pat Quinn is going to deliver his "State of the State" address next week, as scheduled. We've called a number of people who just tell us they don't know. This blogger thinks he will wait until he has a budget to tout, which is mid-March. But in the meantime, why not have a special election and appoint "Stimulus"? Seriously, Stimmy (for short) has come through with millions for our state and even forced Mayor Daley to come clean with his plans. And you know, Stimmy won't do any pay to play. Wait, Stimmy probably will but you can't put a wire on Stimmy? Food for thought and Illinois is hungry! WHAT IS THE 311? Today, Eight Forty-Eight is discussing city services and whether you are happy. Not as it pertains to your life, but with the city services. We are live-blogging it on the Eight Forty-Eight page and taking comments. Finally, this is your chance to give Chicago 311 director Phillip Hampton a piece of your mind! Chicago Public Radio: making dreams come true. Join the convo. PARENTS MAG LOVES AKR I was reading Parents magazine last night and they interviewed Reese Witherspoon who said "I read to my kids every night. My son gobbles up the books by Amy Krouse Rosenthal". Yep, the same Amy Krouse Rosenthal that has been a contributor to WBEZ with her show Writers Block Party. No big deal, America's sweetheart likes our contributor. I DARE YOU TO POKE SUPPELSA! So Suppelsa was given the title friendliest newscaster in Chicago because he has 5,000 Facebook friends. Remember when Facebook was just for college kids? Well you know you jumped the shark when the Trib does a story about how many friends local newscasters have. It makes me think: if Royko was still alive, how many Facebook friends do you think he would have? Oldie but goodie below (via Zorn):
