Join the Illinois Mycological Association for their monthly meeting with guest speaker Dr. Michael Kuo, talking about his new research into stinkhorns (and a little bit about morels).

Dr. Kuo, the principal developer of MushroomExpert.Com, is an English teacher in Illinois and an amateur mycologist. He is the author of Morels (2005) and 100 Edible Mushrooms (2007), and is coauthor (with Andy Methven) of 100 Cool Mushrooms (2010), all published by University of Michigan Press. Other publications include “Morechella tomentosa, a new species from western North America, and notes on M. rufobrunnea” (2008, Mycotaxon 105: 441–446) and “Mushrooming in the age of DNA: now comes the fun part” (2007, McIlvainea 17; 43–49). He is currently writing Mushrooms of the Midwest, with Andy Methven.

As usual, if you have any mushroom questions or found a fungus you want help identifying, bring it along and we’ll help.

There is free parking at the event, which is in the Brigid O’Malley Auditorium at Lake Katherine Nature Center.
