Suffer the Little Children

Pursuit of justice is the mission of Police Commisario Guido Brunetti.

Some of you may recognize that name as the protagonist of a series of mystery novels.

The books include the titles Uniform Justice and Through a Glass Darkly and are set in Venice, Italy.

There, Brunetti deals with unethical and self-serving bureaucrats and struggles to fight his growing cynicism to affect his family life.

The most recent novel to delve into the life and adventures of Commisario Brunetti is Suffer the Little Children.

This installment also reveals many details of Italian life that parallel life in the United States.

Eight Forty-Eight's Resident Philosopher Al Gini recently spoke with author Donna Leon who says Brunetti embodies the frustrations of many Italians.
