Suicide Kings: In Spite of Everything
Suicide Kings: In Spite of Everything
Suicide Kings: In Spite of Everything, the latest entry into the emerging genre of hip-hop theater, features the Bay Area’s most dynamic spoken word collective, The Suicide Kings. Under the direction of GOLDIE award-winning, Bay Area legend Marc Bamuthi Joseph, the play begins the day after a school shooting in an unnamed American town. As police and school administrators ask themselves the perennial question, “What went wrong?” they discover a note that implies that three poetry teachers in the school might have the answer.
Presented by the MCA as part of “Hip-Hop Live + ReeL”, a four-day series of theater, film, comedy, and more, conceived by some of the most creative and dramatic minds in hip-hop today.
Recorded Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Museum of Contemporary Art.
