There are apparently more holes in Illinois Senator Roland Burris’ story.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that before he was appointed to the Senate, Roland Burris had more contacts with then-Governor Rod Blagojevich’s Chief of Staff than he’s disclosed.  Burris reportedly called John Harris four times following the November 4th election, and spoke with him at least once.

In his affidavit, Burris says he only called Harris once.

Some of those conversations may have been caught on federal wire taps.

In one phone call with Harris, Burris says he made a passing reference to the open Senate seat. But sources tell the Sun-Times Burris made a hard pitch for the seat to Harris.

Federal investigators want to know if there was any pay-to-play involved in Burris’ appointment.

Meantime, the Sun-Times joins several newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, in calling for Burris to resign.
