The Windy City could give Silicon Valley a run for its money, according to one CEO of an up-and-coming tech startup.

Justin Massa is the founder of Food Genius, a tech company that works with businesses to analyze restaurant consumer data. He recently graduated Food Genius out of Chicago’s 1871, a startup incubator that offers companies downtown workspace.

Food Genius is the first 1871 business to move into its own office space.

Massa predicts other businesses will also graduate and remain in Chicago.

“Silicon Valley is great and there’s a lot of big giant technology companies out there”,  Massa said, “but they don’t have the broader economic business base that the city of Chicago does.”

Massa said his business is growing, but he won’t completely leave 1871.

He says it has good networking opportunities and expects to operate there at least one day a week.
