As Facebook prepares to go public, the company must perform a delicate balancing act. With a targeted advertising model that utilizes personal data mined from its users, questions have been raised about drawing a line between making a profit and maintaining users’ privacy. Facebook will face increasing pressure from shareholders to see consistent growth, but this could come at the cost of losing customer loyalty if the company is seen as too intrusive.
