By Joe DeCeaultTender Forever – a.k.a. French-born Melanie Valera – brings her electronic bedroom pop to Chicago today for a pair of shows.
Though Valera has performed here with some of her K Records label mates (including Mirah), this trip from her home in the Pacific Northwest to the Windy City marks the first as her one-woman band.
Tender Forever began in 2003, and though the tone of the music has changed incrementally over the years, her natural charisma and intimately personal lyrics have remained constant and integral to her work. Her vocals are at the same time lilting and soaring, her performance impassioned and playful.
Tender Forever plays a pair of all-ages Chicago shows on Monday: Saki record store around 5pm, and Township later on in the evening.
