By Lea CoonAs part of the opening of YAS, this discussion focuses on the current projects of these renowned Spanish architects and the challenges they face in designing and building. They discuss how an idea develops into a large, complex project over time, rooted in continuous research on materials, structures, spaces, color, light, and the cultural environment. Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano have degrees in architecture from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid and the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation of Columbia University in New York. Partners of the studio Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, S.L., they also currently teach at the Universidad Europea de Madrid as well as the Universität der Künste of Berlin. They are recipients of the Aga Khan Award 2010 for the Madinat al Zahra Museum in Cordoba, Spain.
