If you are a movie and a music junkie then heads up! Thursday, the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, or CIMMfest, kicks off. The fest gives film and music fans the opportunity to explore the numerous links we can draw between musical and cinematic efforts. There will be concert films, documentaries, animation, narrative fiction – and of course music – both live and recorded. One local band taking part in the festival is the eclectic group The Bitter Tears. WBEZ sound engineer Liz Bustamante, who’s also a musician, has their story.

Brent Green’s “Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then” with live accompaniment by Mike McGinley, Alan Scalpone, Jim White, and others will be taking place Saturday, April 16th at the Wicker Park Arts Center 2215 W North Ave. The screening is at 10:30pm.

Friday night, Alison Cuddy will host a Q + A with a trio of local hip hop artists who made a film about their trip to the Cote d’Ivoire.
