It's been 10 years since Welz Kauffman arrived in Highland Park, IL to lead Ravinia, one of America's most acclaimed outdoor music venues and the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It's the latest - and longest - stop in career that's included everything from the U.S. Olympic Committee to the New York Philharmonic; from the J. Paul Getty Trust to the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. But the major through-line for much of his career has been a passion for music and the arts. We talked about this and much more during an extended conversation on the grounds of Ravinia recently.
