When Tower Records and several Virgin Megastores closed their doors for good, many assumed it was the beginning of the end for record stores. And with iTunes’ emergence as the world’s largest music retailer, what do we need with record stores? Well, tomorrow is the first annual Record Store Day—a time to celebrate, and maybe even support, your local record store. The event got Chicago Public Radio’s Tony Sarabia wondering: how are Chicago’s small independent record stores faring?
