The High Price of Homeownership
The High Price of Homeownership
According to data analyzed by The Chicago Reporter, for three years in a row the Chicago metro area has led the nation in high-cost loans. Residents who receive subprime loans are struggling to pay these mortgages; many eventually lose their homes. African Americans and Latinos are the most likely to be on the receiving end of these loans. What can state government and local communities do to ease the burden on these families?
Listen in as The Chicago Reporter, the Community Renewal Society and The Chicago Urban League host a complimentary program with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and other key policy and community leaders to discuss this critical issue facing the region.
Recorded Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Carpenters League Building.
