Architectural critic and Chicago city planner Lee Bey and artist Theaster Gates present an overview of the structures and cultural institutions that made the Woodlawn neighborhood a vibrant hub from the 1950s to the 1980s. The discussion will also address past and present renewal projects that include the creative community.

This lecture corresponds with a series of lectures held in 2008 at the University of Chicago and the Experimental Station addressing issues of urban renewal through art intervention and public practice.
