Good morning!

Welcome to this edition of the Morning Drive Podcast!  In this episode, we answer why teachers are continuing to strike.

But first, some news:

Not all students were out of classes today.  For those at Chicago’s 118 charter schools, it was just Monday as usual. Charter schools fall under the Chicago Public Schools system, but they do not hire teachers from the Chicago Teachers Union.

Renovations on the 70-year old Clark/Division Red Line station began Monday. In a statement, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) said work on the station will last until mid-2015.

Featured in the podcast:

Teachers have voiced complaints about class size, students safety and overheated classrooms. But will any of those things be addressed by their new contract?
