Have you heard about the Polling Place Photo Project? It began in 2006 as an effort to document every polling place in America. Besides documenting any irregularities or intimidation tactics used on election day, it also provides a fascinating look at where we exercise one of the most important facets of democracy. Here on the WBEZ Blog we’ll be presenting our own local version of the project from now until Election Day on November 4. Each day we’ll present a new photo of an area polling place (which we will also submit to the larger project)- and you can help. Submit your photos to our Flickr pool and tag them “pollingplace” to be included. To find your polling place in Chicago go here and for other area townships go here. For our first entry, we present the polling place for the 8th Precinct in the 47th Ward of Chicago- the Tattler Post American Legion Hall #973 at 4355 N Western Ave in Chicago.
