(The Right Now)

It’s been two years since Chicago band The Right Now hit the CD bin with its debut release, Carry Me Home.  The critical acclaimed that has followed the band since then has been steady and well-earned.

And in the time since, they’ve further finessed the amalgam of soul, jazz and R&B that is their signature sound into something that’s winning critical acclaim from several corners.

As to that its maturation as a band, Brendan O’Connell of The Right Now says that the band feels the time spent between their debut release, and their latest, Gets Over You, was very well-spent.  “We’ve spent the last 2 years on the road, perfecting songs, breathing the same stale van air, and listening to music as a group. The personal and musical cohesion that formed from all those shows and late-night drives shows up on this new record.”

They’ll talk to us about their stories of stale van air and musical growth, and perform songs from their new release.

The Right Now performs a record release show for Gets Over You this Saturday Night at Lincoln Hall in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
