The National Council of Jewish Women’s Illinois State Policy Advocacy Committee presents “The Status of Women and Girls in Illinois: Is it Getting Better?” featuring Illinois Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon. Simon gives an overview of where Illinois stands on the health, education, and quality of life of the state’s women and girls. Other panel experts include: Dr. Melissa Gilliam, University of Chicago; Jane Ramsey, president of the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs; and Anne Ladky, executive director of Women Employed. The panelists share valuable information on comprehensive sex education, healthcare, the Illinois Dream Act, fair and just immigration reform, paycheck fairness, and paid sick days. The program is moderated by Anne Oppenheimer, National NCJW honorary vice president.
