Every month the Global Notes
duo chooses a new album to spotlight. For their October pick, Tony Sarabia
and Jerome McDonnell
went with Bulevar 2000
from another twosome, Tijuana's Bostich and Fussible
. They comprise half of the pioneering group Nortec Collective, which called it quits in 2007.
Bostich and Fussible continue to blend electronic rhythms with traditional flourishes. Norte±o instruments like the bajo sexto pepper the album, including the title track, without compromising the group's polished modernity.
