Every month the Global Notes duo chooses a new album to spotlight. For their October pick, Tony Sarabia and Jerome McDonnell went with Bulevar 2000 from another twosome, Tijuana’s Bostich and Fussible. They comprise half of the pioneering group Nortec Collective, which called it quits in 2007. Bostich and Fussible continue to blend electronic rhythms with traditional flourishes. Norte±o instruments like the bajo sexto pepper the album, including the title track, without compromising the group’s polished modernity.
