Chicago band The Treasure Fleet might be a new band — in fact, they did their first interview ever for Jaded in Chicago just before they came to WBEZ — but they’ve all been around before, in different projects. Singer Isaac Thotz was the singer in The Arrivals, a long-time South Side punk band in the tradition of Naked Raygun. And Neil Hennessy on bass has been in The Lawrence Arms and Smoking Popes. The Treasure Fleet lineup is rounded out by band members David Merriman (formerly of The Arrivals) and Eli Caterer (of Smoking Popes), but they weren’t in the studio Tuesday morning. Let’s hope they were getting a chance to sleep in, as many rockers who come in for Eight Forty-Eight seem politely aghast at the early hour.

The Treasure Fleet’s next show is at Township (formerly Pancho’s) Wednesday at 7:00pm, in celebration of their frist album, Cocamotion, which comes out in May on Recess Records.
