When The Vaselines called it quits in 1989 after releasing one album, no one expected them to be back touring and releasing new music more than 20 years later. And truthfully, they probably wouldn’t be if it weren’t for one superfan named Kurt Cobain.

The Nirvana front man introduced the world to the scrappy pop group from Glasgow by covering three of their songs: “Son of a Gun,” “Molly’s Lips” and “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me For A Sunbeam.” He even went so far as to name his daughter Frances after Vaselines singer Frances McKee.

After working on their own projects for years, Frances and Eugene performed together again in 2006. After extensive touring as The Vaselines, the pair released an album of new material in 2010- Sex with an X (Sub Pop).

The band stopped by our studios last fall and performed two songs from their new record and one from their first album, Dum Dum.

“Slushy”
