There’s nothing like free music, and for most of this summer, a small slice of Grant Park will again be home to the 12th annual Chicago SummerDance and in Millenium Park, it’s Music Without Borders. Tonight on Radio M, Michael Orlove of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs stops by with a preview. Also, this month’s featured album. Thirty-three years ago this month, the California based band WAR released what has become perhaps their most enduring album: Why Can’t We Be Friends. The title track and the ever popular “Low Rider” were both nominated for a Grammy. Tony will play cuts from the album. And a survey of hip hop from around the globe. Radio should always be this fun!
