Independent radio fans in Chicago unite! Stop Smiling, The Third Coast Festival, and CHIRP Radio, present a celebration of the noisy intersection between documentary radio and music culture.

For this event, Third Coast Artistic Director Julie Shapiro and local CHIRP DJ, Dr. Drase, share radio stories steeped in musical topics – from Sun Ra to John Denver, vinyl nostalgia to rock star impersonators. They also preview the Third Coast Book Odds ShortDocs challenge, a collaboration with folktronic / indie-rock band The Books. In between stories, Dr. Drase divulges some favorite “docu-songs” from his vast collection of audio oddities and musical treasures.
