Listen in to this celebration of Israel’s Independence Day, hosted by the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest, UniVerse of Poetry and The Petach Tikva Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International. Chicago poets, writers and scholars narrate the lyrical and heroic story of Israel through the poetry and song.

This recording includes performances by the Solomon Schechter Choir and readings by Dina Elenbogen, a poet, writer and instructor at the University of Chicago, and Rachel Dulin, a poet, dramatic reader and Biblical scholar at the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies.

Recorded Wednesday, May 06, 2009 at Chicago Cultural Center.
