Thursday Foodie Forecast: Kids night out (parents too)
On Friday, the 22nd, The Kids' Table offers its "Kids/Parents Night Out!"‚ Instead of leaving the kids home with a babysitter, you can drop them off at this adorable cooking school where they can find their inner Giada. Kids 4 - 10 yrs. old spend the first hour rolling, chopping and mixing their way toward the completion of their meal. After eating and clean up, they get to watch a movie and dig into stove-top popcorn (how Old School is that? Now they just need to resurrect coconut oil). The night runs from 6 - 9 p.m. and costs $35 per kid. Menu: Traditional Red Pizza & Rainbow Slaw Movie: TBD (call them at 773-235-2665 to find out what they'll be showing) Check out their online calendar for more information or to register.
On Saturday, the 23rd, adults longing for memories and recipes of Julia Child will have a chance to learn from one of the best cooking instructors in Chicagoland. The Alliance Franƒ§aise de Chicago (810 N. Dearborn) hosts a cooking class by Madelaine Bullwinkel at 10 a.m. ($75 for member, $85 for non-members).‚ Dishes to be covered include: "Gâteau de crêpes à la Florentine" (Spinach and Mushrooms); "Timbale de crêpes" (ham and cheese); and "Gâteau de crêpes à la normande" (apples) from Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
