On Thursday’s Afternoon Shift most of our segments have a connection to television. First we talk with Upright Citizens Brigade founder Matt Walsh about his new role in HBO’s Veep. He plays the vice president’s press secretary so we asked political strategist Kitty Kurth to come in and share notes with Walsh on how to portray the political world on TV. Later we talk about the Chicago Blackhawks, a team that intentionally wasn’t viewable on TV for years. Finally Jane Maas talks about her younger days that sound a lot like the Mad Men character Peggy Olson. She’s the author of the book Mad Women: The Other Side of Life on Madison Avenue in the ’60s and Beyond.
