Tonight, we bring you back to an exciting night of music at Chicago’s Empty Bottle where musican and vagabond Tod A. brought his band Firewater to the stage. In 2005, Tod A. went into a self imposed exile, living in far away places like India and Southeast Asia. He couldn’t resist the musical traditions he was hearing and was soon recording his next album, The Golden Hour. He plays tunes from that release From the Stage.

A band with a nautical name and plenty of sea worthy song titles but these are no sea shanites that Mar Caribe play. Although the sounds do evoke the Mediterranean, as well as some back porch music with that powerful banjo playing by band member and founder Thomas McGettrick. That, and some Hungarian rock and roll from the 1970s, Nigerian funk and a tune from the soundtrack to The Harder They Come.
