Tuesday's Break Room for 'Afternoon Shift': Kanye West, Dozens, and The Opus
On Tuesday's Afternoon Shift, The Break Room features Kanye West with his single "Jesus Walks" off of his debut album The College Dropout. A Chicago native, Kanye West has skyrocketed in popularity since his 2004 debut becoming one of the biggest recording artists in the country. His eclectic, genre-spanning production coupled with his infectious flow have propelled him and his five solo releases both to widespread critical acclaim and to the top of the Billboard Charts.
The Break Room also features the multi-instrumentalist trio Dozens with their single "Forget Me." Drawing comparisons to MGMT and Hall & Oates, Dozens' synthpop sound has an undercurrent of funk to it that will appeal to both the indie-pop and dancefloor crowds. Sing-along choruses and lush melodies abound! Dozens are playing at the Taste of Chicago this Thursday.
Finally, The Break Room features the group The Opus with their brand-new single "March of the Termites." Featuring two producers Mr. Echoes and The Isle of Weight and the lyrical stylings of the group Rubbleroom, the electrifying collaboration of their respective styles combine to make an eerie, heart-wrenching sound that is both innovative and original.
