A regional planning organization and one of Chicago’s largest philanthropies are focusing on an issue that civic leaders often fail to acknowledge: segregation. At a luncheon hosted by the Metropolitan Planning Council, leaders of the MacArthur Foundation and the Chicago Community Trust said they’re looking forward to seeing the results of a two-year study that examines the regional economic costs of deepening economic and racial segregation. The study is being conducted by the Metropolitan Planning Council and the Urban Institute.
