United Airlines pilots voiced frustrations with the company over contract negotiations Monday. The pilots are upset over salary cuts and talked to travelers at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

The Air Line Pilots Association has not confirmed plans to strike, but said Chicago-based United has outsourced pilots. The pilots association said that raises concerns over the safety of flying conditions.

“Look at some oversea airlines,” pilot spokeswoman Halli Mulei said. “Look at their safety record …it’s not the same as United’s safety record. We have a culture of safety at this airline.”

A United Airlines spokeswoman said the company is focused on reaching a fair contract and that all of its pilots meet Federal Aviation Adminstration standards.

She also said customers in smaller towns are able fly internationally via regional carriers.
