This lecture addresses the similarities between Nordic architecture and a strain of Midwestern building exemplified by the work of architect Harry Weese and others. Don McKay, 2007 recipient of the University of Illinois’s Plym Traveling Fellowship, discusses this “humanist Modernism” style and the geographic and cultural conditions that shaped this architecture’s particular, intimate appeal.
Recorded Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Chicago Architecture Foundation.
