Tavi Gevinson, the Chicago-area 15-year-old blogger who to many people’s joy but some (nasty) people’s dismay grabbed the fashion world’s attention a few years ago, has launched Rookie, a new site for other teen girls. As I am not a teen girl and feel a little creepy perusing the site for too long, I’ll offer a very surface-level description. The site so far features everything from “Our Guide to Stomping Out Stress and Restoring Your Sanity” to “Literally the Best Thing Ever: Stickers.” It updates faster than I can keep up. But, again, not for me.

Tavi describes the site this way: “Rookie is not your guide to Being a Teen. It is not a pamphlet on How to Be a Young Woman. (If it were, it would be published by American Girl and your aunt would’ve given it to you in the fifth grade.) … Rookie is a place to make the best of the beautiful pain and cringe-worthy awkwardness of being an adolescent girl. When it becomes harder to appreciate these things, we also have good plain fun and visual pleasure.”

Tavi and the launch of Rookie have been profiled widely in recent days, but some months back she was a guest on The Interview Show - and was one of my favorites. And she’s the only guest I know of to have groupies hanging on to her every word after the show.

Here’s the video.
