I couldn’t pass this one up.‚ 15 year-old Priscilla Diaz— a.k.a. P-Star— has been in the music business since she was 9, with the backing (pushing?) of her dad/manager, Jesse.
Daughter and dad were in town this week to promote‚ P-Star Rising, a documentary about her, um, early years.
Filmmaker Gabriel Noble shot his first footage when Priscilla was nine.‚ In a packed New York club.‚ At midnight.‚ At the time, the family was living in a shelter. She’s now a regular on The Electric Company.‚ The film screens on public TV on Feb. 9.
Luis interviewed P-Star, her dad, and Noble yesterday, and he couldn’t let them leave without getting P-Star to drop a freestyle.
He thinks she’s the real deal, and he knows a thing or two about freestyle.‚ Decide for yourself:
