Jesse M. talked this week to Tricia Brouwers, who was hyping an upcoming fundraiser for Autism Speaks
-- and whose 12 year-old son is autistic.‚ Doctors told her for years that her son would never be verbal.‚ Now he gives out the occasional full sentence.
But he has no social filter, so those sentences do keep her on her toes, especially in public:
SNIPPET_Oh I thought that was your butt (short)
Luckily, she's got a sense of humor (She told the guy, "You've just been touched by a very special person.) and an informational card about autism that she can bust out at moments like this.
