Vocalo Presents: Music & Stories…LIVE!

WBEZ brings you fact-based news and information. Sign up for our newsletters to stay up to date on the stories that matter.

Join us for an all-ages evening of stories, good music, and conversation, featuring stories from some of the city’s best storytellers, local writers, starving artists, and community members. Guest hosted this month by Molly Adams (The Morning AMP) with music by Ayana Contreras, both of Vocalo 90.7FM (CHI) / 89.5FM (NWI)

This month’s theme is WIN OR LOSE, which is a great song by Windy City!

Prolific SLAM poet and public school teacher Tim Stafford and Writer/Storyteller/Moth GrandSLAM Qualifier (who recently did the open mic at Music & Stories) Archy Jamjun will be our feature storytellers.

Tim Stafford is a poet and public school teacher from Lyons, IL. He is a former Chicago Poetry Slam Champion whose work has appeared HBO Def Poetry Jam and at poetry festivals around the world including the 2010 Zurich Poetry Slam Festival, the 2011 German National Poetry Slam, and the 2013 Kiel Festival in Kiel, Germany.

Archy Jamjun is a writer and performer from Chicago. His first passion is singing but unfortunately he was born tone-deaf. He is thus very happy that storytelling exists as it give him a way to entertain people that falls within his abilities. He is currently working on a collection of short stories, finishing up the writing program at Second City, and preparing to start his MFA in Creative Writing at Roosevelt University. When not writing and performing, he can be seen watching drag shows, theater, attending concerts, and working at The Gage near Millenium Park.

Featured Storytellers are invited to share their stories, after which we’ll take a short musical break courtesy of Ayana Contreras host of Vocalo’s Reclaimed Soul.  After the features, members of the crowd take the stage for an OPEN MIC. Bring your favorite stories to share…otherwise just come to listen, chill, and groove.
