Featuring a reading in Spanish and a bilingual panel, contratiempo presents for the first time at the Chicago Cultural Center. The Spanish-language literature scene in Chicago is growing, with several publishers helping shape the movement.  One such publisher is contratiempo, a Chicago literary and publishing center based in Pilsen, which created its book imprint Ediciones Vocesueltas in 2007 to present and promote local immigrant voices creating high-quality work in Spanish.  In this recording, Vocesultas presents an engaging and dynamic multi-author reading and a panel discussion featuring authors from its five books. Encompassing seasoned professionals and first-time published authors, this reading reflects the strength and vitality of Spanish-language Latino literature in the city. The reading features:  Raúl Dorantes (Mexico), Juana Iris Goergen (Puerto Rico), Ignacio Guevara (Costa Rica), Jochy Herrera (Dominican Republic), Stanislaw Jaroszek (Poland), Veronica Lucuy Alandia (Bolivia), Jorge Montiel (Mexico), Elizabeth Narváez Luna (Mexico), Rafael Franco Steeves (Puerto Rico), Humberto Uribe (Colombia), Om Ulloa (Cuba) , Johanny Vázquez Paz (Puerto Rico), Santiago Weksler (Peru), and Febronio Zatarain (Mexico).  The panel features Jochy Herrera,  Febronio Zatarain, Raúl Dorantes, and Juana Iris Georgen.

Recorded on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Chicago Cultural Center.
