West Suburban Muslim Cleric Pleads Guilty To Criminal Charges

A prominent west suburban Muslim cleric has pleaded guilty to criminal charges that he sexually assaulted a 14-year old student and a former employee at his religious school. Under the plea deal, 77-year Mohammed Abdullah Saleem will not serve jail time, but he will be on probation, required to register as a sex offender, and has to cut off ties with the religious school he founded in Elgin. A separate civil case involving four women and a man who allege they were abused at the school is ongoing.
