About 69,000 ComEd customers are without power Thursday morning after a heavy storm moved through the Chicago region. The storm also brought enough rain to set a new record. This month has been the wettest July in Chicago history. David Beachler, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said even more rain is in the forecast.

“Right now we could see possibly another one to as much as two inches of precipitation depending on where you’re at. And that’s taking into consideration that we’re expecting thunderstorms to redevelop this afternoon and evening.”

9.75 inches of rain has fallen on the region this month. That beats the previous record of 9.56 inches set in 1889.
